Reprinted by permission of the Mt. Airy Times Express The following crimes were reported in Mt. Airy from December 20 to December 26, 2008. THEFT FROM AUTO, ATTEMPTED AUTO THEFT December 20: 100 block West Upsal St. – driver’s side window of Honda Accord broken. Taken was Tom Tom GPS. December 20: Unit block East Cliveden St. – Front passenger’s side window of Honda SUV broken. Taken were Tom Tom GPS, sneakers, Samsonite luggage, and class ring. December 21: Unit block West Allens Ln. – Rear passenger’s side window of vehicle broken. Taken were police items, medical cards, back pack and cash. December 22: 300 block Carpenter Ln., 11:10 p.m. – Police allegedly observed offender inside complainant’s vehicle, going through the glove box. Rear passenger’s side vent window had been broken. Suspect asked if he was the owner and allegedly told police that he was not. Suspect arrested. December 22: 300 block West Duval St. – License plate removed from 1999 Honda Accord.
STOLEN AUTO December 21: East Duval St., no block given. – Gray 2006 Nissan Altima allegedly taken by acquaintance without permission. December 25: Unit block West Duval St. – Silver 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee stolen. BURGLARY December 21: 1300 block East Duval St. – Complainant stated offender kicked in door to location, then fled in burgundy vehicle. December 23: 600 block West Johnson St. – Complainants returned home to find drawers open and back door open. No signs of forced entry. Taken were Canon digital camera, Compaq laptop, and earrings. December 23: 7300 block Bryan St. – Location entered through rear kitchen window. Items taken included diamond earrings, gold earrings, and silver earrings. December 24: 200 block West Johnson St., 4:40 p.m. – Complainant observed two offenders outside her daughter’s bedroom window. When window was lifted up by offenders, complainant screamed. Offenders ran from location. Nothing taken. THEFT December 20: Germantown and West Mt. Airy aves. – Complainant stated that while at location, she placed her handbag on stool next to her. When she returned to bag, it was missing. Taken were Gucci wallet, Social Security card, medical card, access card, bank card and state ID card. December 21: 300 block East Gowen Ave., no time given. – Unknown offender took package from off porch. December 23: 7200 block Germantown Ave., 6:39 p.m. – Complainant observed offender allegedly taking items from location and leaving without paying. Taken were candy bars, soda and ice cream. December 24: 6300 block Stenton Ave. – Complainant stated that offender was allegedly carrying item in her pocketbook that she did not pay for. Suspect arrested. December 25: 1300 block Barriger St. –Trash cans taken from location. ROBBERY December 21: Unit block West Durham St., 2 a.m. – Complainant stated that he and acquaintance were in bedroom when unknown offender burst into room, tied them up with electrical cord and began to punch them in the face. Offender also carrying a large knife. Taken were Fuji digital camera, binoculars, cash and both wallets containing ID cards and credit cards. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT None reported this time period.
