The following crimes were reported in Mt. Airy from August 3 to August 9, 2008. Reprinted by permission of the Mt. Airy Times Express . THEFT FROM AUTO, ATTEMPTED AUTO THEFT August 9: 6300 block Chew Ave. – Passenger’s side window of 2004 Mercury Sedan broken. Laundry detergent taken. August 6: 100 block W. Sharpnack St. - Front passenger’s side window of vehicle broken. Jensen car stereo taken. August 7: 7600 block Germantown Ave. - License plate removed from 1998 black Subaru Impresa.
STOLEN AUTO August 3: 600 block N. Mount Pleasant Rd. – Red 1999 Suzuki bike stolen. August 3: 1400 block Phil-Ellena St. – 2004 silver Nissan Maxima stolen. MP3 player in car also stolen. August 7: 6600 block Ardleigh St. – Complainant stated that unknown offender knocked on her door and asked if she wanted to sell her vehicle. Complainant declined. Complainant later noticed that her brown 1979 Ford Fairmount was stolen. August 9: 600 block W. Sedgewick St. – Black 1993 Honda Accord stolen. Complainant allegedly gave vehicle to acquaintance.
BURGLARY August 9: 100 block E. Durham St. – Complainant stated that several items were missing from unlocked shed behind house. Taken were metal hand truck, grass trimmer, weed whacker and storm door.
THEFT August 3: 100 block Sharpnack St. – Complainant stated that family member’s cell phone was stolen from his gym bag. August 7: 400 block W Sedgewick St. – Complainant stated that family member took silver Olympus digital camera and DVDs without permission.
ROBBERY August 4: 7100 block Stenton Ave., 1:50 a.m. – Complainant drove offenders to location where offenders exited vehicle. First offender stated “Give me the money.” Complainant attempted to drive away, offender left vehicle. August 5: 6300 block Germantown Ave., 1:43 p.m. – Complainant allegedly robbed by offender with knife. Complainant stated that offender came behind counter and allegedly threatened complainant, went into register and took cash. Suspect fled southbound on Germantown Ave., and was later apprehended by police.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT August 5: Greene and W. Johnson sts., 7:46 p.m. – Complainant stated that offender allegedly pulled up in a burgundy SUV. Alleged offender attempted to lure complainant into vehicle. When complainant refused, offender allegedly grabbed complainant’s wrist and hit her over head with bottle. Complainant taken to hospital for treatment. August 9: 200 block Dorset St. – Complainant allegedly assaulted by acquaintance with knife. Complainant suffered several cuts to left arm. Witness allegedly heard complainant’s screams coming from residence.
